Samantha's Summer Internship

  Week 10: This week I focused more on getting my final presentation ready to go, since I will be presenting it on Monday. I practiced with coworkers to get familiar with my slides and what all I need to cover. Wednesday we got to go on a plant tour of Crestline in Mechanicsburg PA. We got to tour the plant and see all of the products that they made. We also got to see the process from pellets to fine dust then to pipe. Seeing how the machines worked to make the pipe and then cool it and write the info on each pipe was also interesting. We also got to see how the machine adds gaskets to the pipe as it is being made the gasket is almost built into the pipe and melted into it. 

 Week 9: This week in the office I worked on learning new areas of the software that is used here at LB. I got access to do two more things this week and started inputting them into the computer to help out some of my coworkers with their work load. That's mainly what I was tasked with this week in the office. I also helped around the office when other employees needed help, I did this when I had downtime or when it was a little slower. I also answered some phone calls from customers this week. 

 Week 8:  This week was a shorter week, we were off Monday and Tuesday for independence day. The rest of the week I just worked on finalizing my final PowerPoint. I want to practice presenting it to the employees that I work with to get feedback before presenting it to the board later this month. I also learned how to do credits and worked on that, orders and quotes, and transfers the rest of this week. 

 Week 7: This week was my first week in the office, I mainly worked on inputting orders and quotes into the computer as they came in. After I would input the orders I would get them checked by my supervisor to see if it was correct before submitting. I was just getting familiar with the software that is used at LB Water. I was also getting to start putting part numbers into the system, starting to memorize some of them as well. This week I also got the opportunity to go tour MKB in Bellville. It was really interesting to be able to see all that they do there and how its done. I thought that the tour was insightful and you got a look into their business. 

  Week 6: This week I was still working in the warehouse so I stuck to doing the typical warehouse things, pulling customer orders that get delivered and dealing a lot with the incoming packages, and making sure everything gets received and put away. This week I also had the opportunity to be able to tour one of the warehouses that we get pipe from ADS. It was interesting to see the process at a pipe warehouse and how they keep their inventory stocked. It was also cool to be able to see the pipe being made, LB just sells the pipe so when you actually get to see the process it makes you understand it a little better. It was a very interesting thing to be able to see that not many employees get the chance to do.  

Week 5:  I am continuing the work in the warehouse this week, but I did do some office things this week also. I again just am continuing to work with the products that are here to make myself familiar with them before I completely transition into the office. I got with my internship supervisor to get some of the information to start my PowerPoint this week and worked on that as I had down time. I also got to input orders into the system which gave me practice with a different part of the program LB uses. I practiced with putting orders in when a sales person had one to input. Next week I will still be in the warehouse but will be starting some transition into with the warehouse. I also got more practice on the forklift this week when their wasn't much to pull for orders that were going out.
